Upsell
Encouraging a customer to purchase a higher-value version of what they are considering.
Definition
An upsell presents the customer with a more premium, larger, or more feature-rich version of the product they are considering. It increases AOV without requiring a separate acquisition effort.
Why It Matters for Shopify Brands
Upsells are one of the highest-ROI revenue optimization tactics — no additional customer acquisition cost, just a higher transaction value. Post-purchase upsells (via email or thank-you page) can be especially effective.
